GRAHAM SHIELS STUDIOS

Graham Shiels Studios stands out among Los Angeles acting schools by combining rigorous, Yale School of Drama-informed technique with practical on-camera training for today’s Film and Television industry. Actors work with recently casting scripts while developing essential skills in scene analysis, audition technique, self-taping, and on-camera performance. Classes are taught by currently working Film and TV actors who understand what casting directors, producers, and studios expect. Instead of relying on shortcuts, GSS helps each actor build a dependable, personalized process for making bold choices, delivering truthful performances, and working confidently under pressure in auditions and on set.

Yale School of Drama-informed training emphasizes disciplined preparation, imagination, truthful behavior, and a deep understanding of character and text. At Graham Shiels Studios, principles Graham Shiels developed through his Yale training are adapted specifically for on-camera acting. Actors learn to draw from physical, emotional, instinctual, and intellectual sources while making clear, personal choices that remain natural on screen. This comprehensive approach helps performers become more flexible, consistent, and responsive in auditions and professional Film and TV work. Rather than teaching one rigid formula, GSS helps actors develop a repeatable technique they can apply to different roles, genres, and production environments throughout their careers.

Studying with currently working Film and TV actors keeps your training connected to the realities of today’s entertainment industry. The instructors at Graham Shiels Studios bring firsthand experience from professional auditions, television sets, film productions, and network roles into the classroom. They understand current casting expectations, self-tape standards, on-set practices, and the challenges actors face while building sustainable careers. Along with strengthening your acting technique, GSS instructors help you learn how to prepare efficiently, adjust direction, perform naturally on camera, and approach the business with confidence and professionalism. Their current industry experience helps bridge the gap between acting class and professional Film and Television work.
